Back to the UK

Another sad time for us.  During Chris and Jane's visit we heard my Dad had passed away.  He was diagnosed with Parkinsons when he was about 56 and has been in a care home for four years.  It was unfair to spoil Chris and Jane's visit and Audrey's visit, so after Audrey left, we flew home for my Dad's funeral

Feria de Abril, Sevilla, with Audrey

 WEDNESDAY 9 APRIL 2008

After Chris and Jane left Audrey came to visit us for a week during Feria de Sevilla.

The Feria began in 1846 as a livestock fair but has developed into a very colourful fiesta with most people wearing traditional costumes. Eating, drinking and dancing continues until the early hours.

El Rocio with Chris and Jane

Taking the Mule for a walk!

30 MARCH 2008

El Rocio is at the edge of the Parque Donana.

Over a million pilgrims join the Romeria de El Rocio every year, most on horseback or carriages and dressed in traditional costume.

All the streets are sand, and there are hitching posts for houses outside all the houses. Horses are the preferred means of transport.
We liked it so much that we found a hotel and stayed the night in order to explore the Parque Donana tomorrow.
